Government ministries introduce regulations to ease the process of setting up commercial businesses
Cityscape Qatar, the only real estate exhibition and conference of its kind in the Gulf State saw the launch of a host of new real estate and property developments during the first two days of the show.
The 8th edition of the three-day event, which was opened by His Excellency Ali bin Ahmed Al Kuwari, Minister of Commerce and Industry yesterday (22 October), will run until 24 October at the Doha Exhibition and Convention Center.
Elsewhere, the Ministry of Municipality and Environment and the Ministry of Commerce and Industry announced a series of new regulations that will impact the ease of doing business in the country. During a co-located press conference, representatives from both ministries said many vital medical, educational and commercial activities will be supported in a bid to encourage economic diversity and stimulate foreign direct investment.
The event which hosted more than 50 exhibitors, saw one of the largest gatherings of leading international and local real estate developers in the country to launch new residential, office and retail projects.
National real estate developer and subsidiary of the Qatar Foundation, Msheireb Properties, launched two new residential projects on the opening day of Cityscape Qatar. Located in Msheireb Downtown Doha, the new Al Kahraba and Al Khail projects will provide a selection of one, two, three and four bedroom units offering a wide variety of amenities including pools, gyms and clubhouses.
Additionally, any Cityscape Qatar visitor who registered their interest during the three-day property show will be given a month’s stay – rent free.
The country’s largest real estate developer and Official Strategic Sponsor, Barwa, showcased a number of its developments covering real estate demands for commercial, residential and labour accommodation. On display were Madinat
Mawater, which serves as the main destination for all after-market car services; Dara A, which offers residential apartments; and Mukaynis Compound, providing one of the largest worker accommodation complexes in Qatar.
Additionally, Bawra exhibited its workshop and storage development, Al Baraha which addresses the shortage of commercial units. The project caters to a large number of medium and small businesses as well as serving small industrial enterprises. Al Baraha provides worker accommodation and offers workshops and warehouses, as well as residential and commercial units.
“The quality of newly launched and existing projects on display on the show floor is a testament to the strength of Qatar’s real estate sector,” said Carlo Schembri, Exhibition Director, Cityscape Qatar. “While it’s no secret that there are economic troubles across the globe, there’s a sense that market here is gaining momentum.”
